Quintessence is an engaging short-film by renowned Director Dustin Schell that tells an intimate story between two individuals in Jason’s life – his ex-lover, Thomas and his sister, Ruth. Both Thomas and Ruth head to Jason’s home, a remote cabin, unknowing of the other’s visit. After a decade, Thomas has come to reconcile with Jason who is in the late stages of an HIV related illness. As Ruth appears in the driveway, there is a prickly introduction as they search the house, but finding no sign of Jason.

With time on their hand, both set about the task of finding him together. Through a touching and powerful dialogue with the telling of their stories, each finds a respect for the other's place in the life of this man that they have loved.
