The Shelter soundtrack will be distributed by the network's record label, here! Tunes. The label focuses on LGBT bands but accepts submissions of all genres of material by artists of any sexual orientation. The music featured in Shelter includes Texas native and singer/songwriter Shane Mack, Boston based, here! Tunes recording artist Stewart Lewis, and Dance Yourself To Death, a queer indie-rock band hailing from Toronto.
In addition to Shelter, here! Tunes music will be incorporated into here!'s production slate of over 40 films and television series, uniquely positioning the label within the music industry and its gay and lesbian consumer market. Shane Mack's acoustic pop/soul style is similar to James Morrison and Norah Jones. Billboard magazine has said, "His voice and music are refreshing." Live Magazine has said, "A life-story songwriter with a vast vocal range." Shane Mack has written songs since the age of five and performed since the age of 12. Shane began his recording, songwriting and music producing career in Nashville.
His debut album on Universal/Curb Records was ranked in Billboard's Top 10 debut albums, earned him three ,Billboard Top 40 hits and a Top 5 music video on CMT. Shane has also toured with and opened for Martina McBride, Kenny Chesney, Willie Nelson, Brooks & Dunn, Faith Hill, Tim McGraw and Keith Urban. Shane currently splits his time between Nashville and Los Angeles and is currently writing with legendary songwriters, including, among others, John Rich (Big and Rich), Blair Daly, Kent Blazy, Joanna Janet and Troy Verges.
Stewart is the first artist signed to the here! Tunes record label. His music is a soulful blend of folk and pop. His music is influenced by artists ranging from David Grey to Damien Rice to Imogen Heap. Look for his album in stores in early '08.
A queer indie-rock band based out of Toronto whose music has been compared to The Ronettes making love to Chrissie Hynde and then having breakfast with members of Squeeze and XTC.
